Warren Ellis is my favorite living writer, and Transmet is incredible. I also recommend Ocean, Ministry of Space, and Trees.

I never heard of Black Science. Looks interesting!
I really like the Conquest series (Bande dessinée, francobelgian comics). The series tells in 10 books, stories of several human fleets looking for new planets to settle on (or rather to conquer)... too bad that those are mostly or rather always inhabited already.
It seems these series are published only in French or German.
I did not found them in English or Spanish.
Yeah that's pretty much the big downside of BDs that they aren't translated often. Sorry for that.

Currently going through East of West but I'm not sure if it fits the sci Fi bill. It's a bit all over the place but I love it.
I have these in hardback. I like the story, love the characters, and absolutely adore the art. I agree it's more a lunatic apocalyptic western but think anybody who likes sci fi and horror would like it.
Admittedly this is one area of media that I have no knowledge of and I don't believe I have read a single thing that falls into this category. I'm interested in learning what is out there so I can look into them.
I've been following Kill Six Billion Demons online.
I suppose it's not purely sci-fi, but it certainly has a cosmic scope and some sci-fi elements, so I don't think it's too off-topic for this thread.
Beware: I bounced off hard off the opening few pages. Then it got better. Like, REALLY better. Like, this is probably my favorite comic better.
This looks amazing but aargh hard to see on my phone. Scrolling back and forth trying to see the art. Really need a tablet or something. And yes first scene ick.
Most of the comics I have are not sci fi. More towards fantasy/horror. Sandman, Monstress, East of West, Lazarus, Black Monday Murders all are great. Highest House and Darkness Rising are one offs and also great. And oh my God I need to edit the post, I forgot Atomic Robo.
Yeah, KSBD really is done in the old-school webcomic way. You really need a browser, there's so much detail. Or to buy the books--they are sold in stores, but obviously don't have the weekly update. Abbadon is on the last book though, so after that the entire series will be in print.
