Are there any good direct download sites for general things? and how should one be safe is tor enough?

Im looking for certain things like educatinal books and things to cure my boredom becasue media is pricey sometimes, ive never pirated before (i think) so im up for suggestions, tips, and advice, etc.

also have any of you gotten in trouble before with this kinda of stuff?

also i would rather not torrent.

Typically if you are using direct downloads you don't care about using TOR. You won't get in trouble with direct downloads, but the uploaders.

Not torrenting really limits your grasp, but for books Library Genesis is fantastic.

I was looking for a defunct MMO magazine and noticed they have a huge collection of gaming magazines.
