Imma just going to take this as official confirmation that Hemmer is not in fact dead, but is just hanging out with the Gorn enjoying cartoons.

Turns out giving the Gorn a replicator means that the children get a choice to eat something better than humanoid flesh. Like roasts.

However, they refuse to eat anything other than macaroni and cheese now.
