For a second, I thought Lemmy had advertisements now.

[–] Lord_ToRA@lemmy.world 59 points 10 months ago (3 children)

It does, they're just user-submitted

Fuck Bic and their single use crap.

They literally do only single use Lighters and Pens, nothing else.

Fuck this company.

[–] franklin@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

And razors that are the worst too

[–] shrimpazoid@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Their single use surfboards are THE WORST

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

And don't get me started on their Home Episiotomy Kits.

[–] retrieval4558@mander.xyz 1 points 10 months ago

Best to get those secondhand through eBay or craigslist imo

[–] clearleaf@lemmy.world 22 points 10 months ago (5 children)

Snoop Dogg's use for the lighter is already covered by "and more" before it gets to Willie Nelson. What is the "so much more" he's doing with a lighter that doesn't involve grills, candles, or smoking?

[–] flicker@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago

Willie Nelson is known for using his for an extended quantity. Which is where the joke is, here. Snoop is known for smoking weed, and Willie Nelson is known for smoking a substantial quantity for longer than Snoop has been alive. For comparison, Snoop is 52. Willie is 90.

I hope this helped.

[–] registrert@lemmy.sambands.net 3 points 10 months ago

Due to the overall length it doubles as a guitar slide.

Also he likes to collect them. So, much more.

[–] sxan@midwest.social 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I'd bet Willy could out-smoke Snoop. It'd be a fun contest, either way.

I wonder if they've ever hung out together.

[–] Lommy@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I wanted to comment that I've recently read that he stopped smoking, Upon further investigation this turned out to be an ad for smokeless fire pits.

[–] ULS@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

Why don't people utilize girls for party smoking?

Probably to generate discussion about what the "and more" could be, just like it's doing. Proper ad camp, Bic.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Butt stuff.

[–] HiddenLayer5@lemmy.ml 13 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

TBH this is more corporate "fellow kids" energy than anything else.

[–] ElBarto@sh.itjust.works 13 points 10 months ago

I quite like them, haven't burnt myself when smoking a bong in a long time.

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 11 points 10 months ago (5 children)

I understand what they're insinuating but won't any regular lighter work for that purpose? What's so special about this design?

[–] gila@lemm.ee 25 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

For when part of the herb that's loaded in your pipe doesn't get ignited by capillary action and you need to put the flame directly to it to get it to ignite. Since you're trying to manipulate the position of the flame it's easier for your fingers to get in the way. It's more of an edge case and you can just get better at using a normal lighter, so I'd say this is just for viral marketing if it's real

edit: and djeep lighters are better for this anyway

[–] thurstylark@lemm.ee 13 points 10 months ago

When the herb in the bowl is deep, gotta get the flame deeper, so either get gud, or burny fingy.

Like, people have been using regular lighters for this for forever, so it's not a necessity, just easier.

[–] Kerb@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 10 months ago

its a type of pipe lighter.

To light a pipe, you need to get the flame down in the bowl.
its kinda tricky to that with a normal lighter without burning your thumb.

so over the years specialized pipe lighters emerged, that help you reach into the bowl.

the implication in the ad is, that the most popular pipes these days are not for tobacco consumption.

[–] ook_the_librarian@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

This lighter has a stem to keep the flame from your thumb, but it isn't obnoxiously long.

I'll note the Bic brand is not refillable. Look for a little port on the bottom. I've seen some at Ace hardware.

[–] MxM111@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

When you torch from the top, you can burn your fingers with the regular lighter.

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

You're not supposed to torch it from the top like a caveman. There's a technique. The cornering sideburn.

[–] MxM111@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

How else you light the candle? From the bottom?

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Candle? I thought we were talking about weed.

[–] MxM111@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago
[–] Thcdenton@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Nah thanks my lighter technique is to ingrained. I'll stick with the original.

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

It's perfect for lighting bowls

Damn Willie and Snoop must have fallen on hard times to sell out like that. Grandkids must be blowing through that paper LOL

[–] oehm@midwest.social 4 points 10 months ago

I like clipper better, same thing but refillable. They have the same style with the metal extension piece. Bic goes in the garbage once it runs out.

[–] numberfour002@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

And so much more: Like burning away the hair growing out of your ears without also burning your fingers!

[–] sagrotan@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Chillie Nelson, ma bro!

Btw yesterday I learned who designed the ubiquitous bic lighter: Louis Lucien Lepoix, a guy who pretty much shaped the aesthetic zeitgeist of the early cold war. The more you know...

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I have the orange one and it's great for candles as they get low. Never had a problem with regular Bics for lighting bowls.

[–] itsJoelle@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

People are incapable of turning a light side ways and keeping it parallel to the ground. Really isn’t hard.

[–] ULS@lemmy.ml 2 points 10 months ago

For when you pack your weed microdose in a special 2 inch deep bowl.

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I genuinely don't know what market this is for.

Cigarettes don't benefit from this, and we already have long ones for lighting the stove or wood burner.

What's this stubby one for?

[–] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

In case you are serious, it's for lighting pipes.

[–] ji17br@lemmy.ml 2 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Do people have issues lighting pipes with normal lighters?

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago
[–] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 1 points 10 months ago

I have no idea, never tried, but I can imagine it's easier when your fingers don't need to be so close...

[–] Snazz@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

I actually use one of these for work. It fits comfortably in my pocket and don't burn my fingers when I have to light up a bunch of sterno burners.

Dry vaping > any form of smoking.

Combusting your plant material is so 20th century
