Assuming the name is a play on Python since those are the building blocks of the app. But do the creators also like pie? Any specific flavor? Will the mascot be a pie, or maybe a baker of pies? These are the important questions about a new federated platform that we all need to know.

I like PieFed as a name - short, marginally relevant, and cool.

Back when I was carnivorous, a Jimmy's mutton pie was the ultimate. Sadly only available in the lower South Island of New Zealand. Jimmy's pies logo

While the name PieFed is indeed a playful nod to Python, I also appreciate the charm of actual pies. People in my country love pies. I usually go for the traditional Mince and Cheese pie but Butter Chicken Pie is nice too.

As for the mascot / logo, I'm kinda in the "baking" stage of brainstorming. A pie or a friendly pie baker are both excellent suggestions! It's all about creating a warm and inviting community, much like the aroma of a freshly baked pie.

I'm absolutely not a designer and not wedded to the current logo so any help in this area will be much appreciated.

Butter Chicken Pies? Wow. I'm not a big pie fan, but that interests me. Depends on the crust
