Welcome to our community of support for those coping with mental health challenges. Many of us take antidepressants prescribed by doctors to help manage conditions like anxiety, depression, OCD, and panic disorder. This is a space to share experiences, find information, ask questions, and encourage one another.

We aim for open and constructive dialogue. Please be thoughtful and kind. Rude or abusive language will not be tolerated. Our focus is on learning, growing, and walking together through difficulties.

Professional medical advice is irreplaceable. Consult your physician before making any changes to medication routines. Improper antidepressant use can be dangerous. We are here to support you on your journey toward mental wellness, not replace doctors.

I want to switch up Zoloft for another ssri, but they often dulls myself in a way I can't act spontaneously and become more like unintrested which Zoloft is free of. I tend to associate this phenomena with Zoloft's weak activity as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. And since wellbutrin is illegal in my state, I can't have it (as well as adderall, ritalin)

What I do have are atomoxetine, phenylpiracetam

Atomoxetine is terrible in my experience. Phenylpiracetam is alright and maybe kind of similar to bupropion, definitely my body tolerates it far better than atomoxetine. If you're looking for an SSRI with less side effects, escitalopram might be a good option. I've never heard of a country where bupropion is illegal, any idea what that's about?

I assume you're in Eastern Europe from what meds are banned?

I've read about tianeptine or bromantane being used instead of DRIs, but I don't have any personal experience.

Another option if it's available are MAOI like tranylcypromine or phenelzine. I had some anti-ADHD effects from those.

Yes, and MAOIs are also banned

I was prescribed a lot of different drugs before being diagnosed ADHD. The only SSRI that ever had an effect on me personally was Wellbutrin, but only for about a week. After that, even changing dosages, had no effect. That week the Wellbutrin worked I was a robot. No emotion, just “work”. Need to do the dishes…did the dishes. Need to work, productivity about 400% for the week, etc. I’m on Addrrall now, but it’s nothing like being on Wellbutrin. This was just my experience.

I wouldn’t expect an ADHD med to have an effect on you, or if it did it could be similar to your previous experiences with other SSRI’s.

Agree with the other poster though. Not sure where you are, but no state in the US bans Wellbutrin or Adderall. If you’re not in the US though, then I can’t offer any advice.

I like to combine Zoloft with occasional ephedrine, which is available over the counter at the pharmacy in the states. I did it to the level of what you would call abusing it in college, but these days I do it two or three times a month. like I always take my zoloft, but every once and a while I'll pop an ephedrine and just have a really good day
