you can use yuzu without owning a switch if you pirate the keys lol.

You don't require a switch to use yuzu. You only require the keys and firmware which you also can get elsewhere.
You can get yuzu from their website, and the bios files and game roms from the usual suspects/ your favorite places online.
ok, thank you. Only reason I've been asking is due to the fact that it takes over an hour to compile shaders on each boot so I thought I was missing something
Yuzu and the other popular switch emulator, Ryujinx, may run better or worse depending on your PC specs--compiling shaders is normal on boot up but mine never takes more than a minute or two at most so an hour is extremely long.
Each emulator, Yuzu and Ryujinx, have varying performance with different games but run most games well.
Yuzu typically has games running better faster because the project isn't aimed to be a true simulation of the switch or super accurate like Ryujinx is.
You can checkout both to see which one you like of course.
ok, thank you. I'm on an i7 and rtx3060ti so it's odd
You can usually find precompiled shaders to download, for ryujinx look at ryusak
Update your Yuzu application to the latest version. It stopped recompiling for me and simple just loaded the shaders on every boot of the game. Boot times into the game went from ~45s to 2s every time.
In what way does yuzu require a Switch? That hasn't been my experience.
yuzu requires keys which you're supposed to officially dump from your own console. you can just pirate them.
Its the legal way
just reading off their site: Prerequisites A hackable Nintendo Switch console (preferably a model that is vulnerable to the fusée-gelée exploit). Fitgirl's repacks already contain the necessary files. These steps are unnecessary. There are also alternative ways of sourcing the files. :)
ok, thank you, can I also ask for the general idea of where to find these?
If you just want to play one game, Fitgirl's repacks are by far the easiest way, because she does all the setting-up for you. But if you want to play multiple games, you should be able to get them from the same places you get your NSPs. prod.keys and title.keys - I got mine from https://rentry.org/128bbkeys.
sadly I think that post has been deleted :/
Fixed. Also could've copied the text of the link to your URL bar. :)
ohh, thank you, didn't try that
this was off one of the repos (am I allowed to paste base links here?)
ok, thank you, I want to play multiple so that's perfect
it's just because if they write "just download this torrent full of nintendo copyrighted stuff and it will be done in one click", they'll be sued to oblivion
They say that because it's the only legal method.
That's just something they say because they love Nintendo's dick in their mouth.
yeah, thought so, got banned off their discord for even hinting at the prospect of piracy smh
They're just protecting themselves; Nintendo's legal team is infamously tenacious and expensive to defend against, so yuzu can't give them the slightest indication they support the real day-to-day use case of their software.
They dance so we can sail.
They dance so we can sail.
Poetry.
fair enough, thx
You just need the prod keys, title keys and firmware. You can download all of them.
But don't use the fitgirl rips, find the xci files directly.
But don’t use the fitgirl rips, find the xci files directly.
Why?
You can choose the emulator version and binary images don't compress well so the repack install time is just overhead.
ok, thank you
It's pretty easy to do, especially on the steamdeck
I want to support this. SteamDeck is amazing with enulation. Is it perfect? No! Occasional glitches and graphics issues, but a really handy and easy option.
Definitely possible. I was just playing Smash Ultimate with some coworkers on my laptop during lunch break.
oh wow, tysm
You definitely can! I'm using Yuzu on Linux with an jurassic 1050Ti and it works perfectly. I basically play Mario Kart 8 and BotW (for now, TotK in the queue) and never touched an actual Switch in person (seriously! I'm Brazilian and these things are hell expensive here).
yeah I get that, 300+ for something you're using for maybe 2 games makes no sense
I don't want to spend 400 and more just to play miitopia 😭
You should switch to CEMU for BotW realistically, it runs much better and the emulator is more mature
Might be hard if you're already far in the game, but I'd give it a try nonetheless
Yuzu doesn't require a switch. You just need a switch it to dump decription keys but you can find them online pretty easily The file are called prod.key
@will_iam90983402984 I remember hearing something about the state of Switch emulation in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQmN-cxg21M
If you want to play the breath of the wild, it will run much better on the Wii emulator - Cemu. Also super easy to setup and you can find prepackaged on fit girl.
