Reddit was mostly with bots during early stage. Even the founders confessed it.

Bit different.

At the start reddit seeded content with fake accounts posting. This was to make it feel more inviting and had lots of manual content behind alt admin accounts.

These bots are being made to use in the future to repost content for “karma”/legitimacy and be used for selling, scamming, and propaganding.

Except, from what I understand so far, there is no "karma" to chase on the fediverse. So that'd be pointless.
