I blocked it the moment I saw it.

This is the way.

I'm kind of disappointed I can't downvote now, but oh well. Looks like others are doing the lords work haha

Still a badge of honor. Kind of like getting banned from r/conservative lol

[–] Difficult_Bit_1339@sh.itjust.works 61 points 1 year ago (3 children)

You're totally getting banned from c/conservative as soon as they figure out how to use Lemmy.

[–] atlasraven31@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I picture Hank Hill trying to play PlayStation with Bobby before giving up.

[–] cptapathetic@rustyshackleford.cfd 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Nah Hank can game, I mean remember how much he was slaying on Pro Pain? (also I'm wanting to build a community of KOTH fans so join me at !koth@rustyshackleford.cfd if you're interested)

[–] SuspiciousUser@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

I can't wait to get banned for asking a legitimate question

I just plainly asked "is this ironic?" and my comment was removed. No response.

Can you not even handle that?

[–] Jenga@lemm.ee 41 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Looks like some salty snowflake came through and downvoted every comment here, I've never seen so many lol. What a baby

[–] thekrevfox@kbin.social 38 points 1 year ago

Trump nuts are the real snowflakes. They get upset at you without even a word needing to be said.

[–] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Remember spray yourself in Bud Light to keep the pests away.

[–] digdug@kbin.social 30 points 1 year ago

I'm trying not to attract Trump here.

[–] demvoter@kbin.social 22 points 1 year ago

So you were canceled? Hypocrites.

[–] siskourso@odin.lanofthedead.xyz 19 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Is there a list anywhere of these shit instances we can block?

[–] administrator@lemmy.pro 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Maybe it’s a bad community but not a whole bad instance?

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago

It's hosted on our instance, so correct.

[–] siskourso@odin.lanofthedead.xyz 8 points 1 year ago (3 children)

ah ok, well question still stands if anyone knows of a list of instances to block like that.

[–] fadedmaster@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why do you need or want a list prepared by someone else?

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Because I'm lazy and I'm not trying to put that much effort into scrolling

[–] fadedmaster@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

I've just been blocking communities I'm not interested as I've seen them. I'd rather curate my experience myself than have someone else curate it for me. To each his own though. I suppose I do use ad block lists prepared by others so not a ton different. Haha.

Exploding-heads.com is full of awful communities.

[–] kukkurovaca@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 year ago

The call is coming from inside the house on this one

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 year ago

Sad to hear they found Lemmy.

[–] Grant@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've noticed that instances christian, maga, conservative, and theDonald all have low counts comparatively to most instances. The highest I saw the other day was 120 or so but most were like 40-80

[–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's probably because of a mixture of things:

  • younger people are more likely to try out new SM
  • younger people are more likely to be liberal
  • many people here are fleeing from other SM that skews liberal (mostly Reddit)
  • the founders were largely socialist, so liberals probably felt more at home in the early days

At least that's my take.

That said, I want nothing to do with maga-style communities.

[–] PrMinisterGR@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You forgot that Russian troll fans haven’t yet infiltrated Lemmy, but if the bot Registration reports are real, they’re on their way.

[–] YeetTheRich@dataterm.digital 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Reactionaries from different nations are heads of the same hydra. Russian tankies, USA magas, west Asian ISIS, etc . . . they all suffer from the same character flaws.

Those "russian" bots and troll farms are likely funded by American tankies/conservatives/terrorists.

I'll add that younger people are more likely to be targets of conservative animosity / demonized, not necessarily more liberal.

I've only found the one that's a bunch of liberals cybersquatting the name of the former trump reddit sub.

[–] Sharpiemarker@feddit.de 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Oh please turn it into a satire community.

[–] sgtlighttree@kbin.social 25 points 1 year ago

... and watch it become not-satire and then fully serious

It's gonna need some careful moderation to keep it fully satire methinks

[–] iorale@lemmy.fmhy.ml 17 points 1 year ago

Did you know that's how r/thedonald actually started? It was meant to be satire but it attracted those who were serious and look at what happebed.

[–] Jaysyn@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

Only post pics of Donald Glover, Donald Duck, etc...

[–] administrator@lemmy.pro 7 points 1 year ago

What instance is it on? Would like to shitpost a little :p

I just shitposted into one and got countered surprisingly witty. Yeah. A lot of those are Satire communities, at least atm.

Pretty sure r/TheDonald started as a satire community and it evolved into one of the largest white nationalist movements the world has ever seen.

[–] Nude@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Like the nazis on 4Chan 10-15 years ago. They were debate threads for the sake of arguing. Same with the flat earthers there. It was for the argument, not the points made.

Then people didnt get it and it became real.

Instance admins should really nip that in the bud, IMO

[–] Stijn@lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't get why people always want to ban things. At least you can see everything in the open now.

[–] scaredsilence208@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Communities with a habit of calling for violence against specific communities should be banned

[–] Eddie@lucitt.social 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Happy to say I haven't come across them yet
