Excellent question

I would also like the ability to access the link directly!
I tried to make a userscript for this, but it turns out the server-side part of kbin simply doesn't send that information to the client, except in some cases (where you can preview the media), so it can't be done without using extra server resources.
If it doesn't increase server load, it would be great if the link could be accessible immediately.
because this isn't old reddit?
On kbin it's actually a cross between old and new reddit. new reddit a link appears below the title when reading the thread. kbin the title is the link, but only when reading the thread.
I actually liked new reddit in compact mode, so used it that way since it was available, so not really much of a change. I've been using old.reddit a bit since this whole event, and it was so weird having to click on the comments to go to the comments, rather than the title of the post!
Either way, people are going to find it different.
It makes a lot more sense for the title to go to the actual linked article.
Why even have a usable comment button if the default behavior is for the title to link to the comments?
Yes, I am used to pre-migration digg, old reddit, and present day HN behaviour on this, and asked because I wished it were possible on kbin too. Here is closer to slashdot style, I guess.
I also remember that it has been a perennial complaint since at least those days that people don't read the linked article before joining the discussion, often with false assumptions. Making going to the article a two-click affair means We have given in after all?
It is also true that along those complaints were observations that the discussions were more interesting than the article (regardless of whether they were grounded on the article or not). So what do I know.
