Yes, I am used to pre-migration digg, old reddit, and present day HN behaviour on this, and asked because I wished it were possible on kbin too. Here is closer to slashdot style, I guess.
I also remember that it has been a perennial complaint since at least those days that people don't read the linked article before joining the discussion, often with false assumptions. Making going to the article a two-click affair means We have given in after all?
It is also true that along those complaints were observations that the discussions were more interesting than the article (regardless of whether they were grounded on the article or not). So what do I know.
