Check out carpet beetle larva. A little gross maybe, but not harmful or alarming.

Found some under my (I think) wool based carpet as well.

Was my childhood carpet soI wasnt that thrilled about getting rid of it.

That is 100% not a bedbug. At no point in the bedbug’s life cycle does it look even remotely like that. Breathe a sigh of relief, OP!
