If you listen on Amazon’s ad free feed only 1/3rd is plugs and ads rather than half!

Great content but I can’t take the amount of plugging and begging he does. I get it. Journalism is genuinely in trouble but he’s got to find a better balance or pitch.

They only beg for one month a year. The ads are annoying, but they have to pay for it somehow.

I pay the bare minimum annual fee to get the ad free version. Totally worth it IMO.

I used to listen regularly, but in the last episode I had listened to the host needed to correct something they'd previously said and instead of owning up to the mistake did a really wishy washy glossing over it that soured my opinion on the trustworthiness of the podcast... It's been a good while now, so maybe time to give it another go

What was the correction? I found Jesse Brown is pretty good at the mea culpas (and they're always fun to listen to). The sidekick that does Wag the Doug doesn't seem as good.

Honestly it's been a good while and I can't remember. I think someone else had proved them wrong about something, and it was acknowledged in a way that felt maybe a little dismissive? Not in the full way I'd expect from someone who cares about the truth anyway, and very much in a way I know they'd call others out for. Created sort of whatever the opposite of Gell-Mann Amnesia is where I just couldn't forget it.

I had a similar experience. It must have been around 2021. Maybe it was about the Freedom Convoy. It's a while ago and I forgot the details but it's not the first time he rubs me the wrong way. Kinda stopped listening to the podcast because of it.
