I didn't realise quite how bad of a year our ferries have had, this is just embarrassing.

This seems like a key infrastructure issue to sort out. Didn’t realise that we don’t own our ferries!

From the article it sounds like Interislander is NZ owned (by kiwirail, a state owned enterprise) but Bluebridge is not NZ owned.

That makes sense. Kiwirail isn't exactly known for their competence

As Dave said, Interislander is owned by Kiwirail, and they own their boats, to the best of my knowledge. I didn't realise Bluebridge wasn't NZ owned any more.

To be fair, a few of the 'incidents' listed are simple engineering issues, but yes, quite an eventful year!

One of them was an "engineering issue" that almost turned into "running around in a storm".
