Thousands of miles away from the brutality of war in Gaza, Tareq Hamoud and his wife Manal are in disbelief over the loss of three generations of their family.

from the article:

Of Manal’s four brothers – Saed, Omar, Ameed and Khorsheed – three were eye doctors; the other was an ENT doctor. Hamouda says they operated Gaza’s largest network of family-owned eye clinics.
“We have no Hamas members [in our family]. They’re just ordinary people: doctors and grandmothers and grandfathers and uncles and aunts and children,” Abu Shaban said.
“I mean, if you want to exterminate Hamas then you should go to the source.”

Please just read the article. A quote or two doesn't do justice to the loss this family has incurred.

Clearly they are all Hamas. You can tell because they're not white.

A deeply Christian, well educated colleague of mine noted that "while it's sad what is happening, I saw a protest and I think they went too far". So I asked in which way, as I hadn't seen anything in the media. She responded that she had heard people say "Allah Akbar".

I had to explain to her that contrary to popular belief, "Allah Akbar" does not mean "death to the infidels". She was genuinely surprised.

If the racism fails to do the trick, a lot of people can probably sleep well at night knowing the dead children were Muslims.

I think when you are watching your people (civilians - NOT those who enlisted to be part of this) being killed by the hundreds basically every day, I think even if you said "death to the infidels" you deserve a pass. I can't imagine losing 3 generations in a day, and have it seen by everyone as acceptable collateral damage to maybe take out the enemy.

This is going to drive Hamas recruitment through the roof and Israel will only have themselves to blame.

Can you imagine losing that much of your family in just one day? Jfc.

My family just wouldn't exist anymore if it lost that many people.

And I can't help but feel that's the entire point.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The Palestinian Americans, who live in Maple Grove, Minnesota, say it’s been over a week since they learned 42 relatives were killed in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, and they’re still unable to fully comprehend the news.

A video shot by a neighbor and provided to CNN shows what is left of the family compound; charred ruins and rubble, of what relatives say used to be three buildings, now surrounded by virtually untouched homes in the residential area.

Another 1.4 million people have been internally displaced, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says, after the IDF warned residents in northern Gaza to move south.

To avoid Israeli airstrikes, they had evacuated the nearby Tel El Hawa neighborhood and sought refuge in the Saqallah’s home, Abu Shaban says.

A video shot by surviving family members and provided to CNN shows the numerous bodies – wrapped in white burial shrouds – being placed into a mass grave.

Activists, human rights groups and international officials have all called for a ceasefire, but the war rages on, and has witnessed a new phase of dangerous ground operations.
