can this be a setting in our profiles? I hate leaving and having to come back. if for no other reason than it might lower page loads a little bit

I'd like that too, I often forget to click the scroll wheel, so I read the article that was linked in the post and then have to go back again. Don't find that convenient.

Not to state the obvious, but one can always right-click and open a link in a new tab manually. But yeah, I'd enjoy having this as the default or an option as well. It's pretty rare that I want to follow an external link in the same tab I'm using to read Lemmy. I'd pretty much always prefer a new one.

There is a even easier way, click the scroll wheel which opens it in a new tab.
