Nice that F1TV called that Mercedes conversation for what it was: Bullshit.

Which conversation? I usually have the sky commentary. The F1TV is so hard to hear.

F1TV (Hinchcliffe, Jaqcues & Coulthard) called the conversation between George Russell and his engineer when they tried to legitimise his illegal overtake as "something Hollywood would come up with" and "spinning the truth" (not their exact words).

edit: typo

Russell not having given that place back by now is a bit dodgy.

Stroll is retiring???? Surely not

EDIT:

WHAT THE HELL

They're having mad brake issues with his car.

[–] hagelslager@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago

Not surprising considering there was a curious four-wheel lock-up due to the brake during the sprint shootout.

Sainz on softs, not sure that’s going to help him towards the end. But anything is possible I guess.

Holy crap.. Max just gaining time by the round.

Could be a couple of interesting races this weekend! Verstappen wins both is my prediction but the rest of the podium should be a real scrap between Merc/McLaren/Ferrari/Perez!

Not the cliff I expected so far. Hopefully Albon is able to get a bit closer so Russell drops behind him.

Much better result for him than I expected

Who was giving out the podium awards?

They weren't rusty enough to be salad fingers

Damn one more lap and Lando would have had Charles. The last few laps he had half a second on him.

[–] FrostyTrichs@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Had he not been behind Carlos for so long he would've made the podium. It's a good sign for tomorrow that the McLaren still seems to be kinder on its tires than at least Ferrari.

Red Bull still seem to have the pace in hand once the tires begin to wear but Mercedes may be the wild card. I'm hoping to see Lando get his first win, but Lewis would have to give a master class on defending if Max is going to be held up long enough to be kept off the top step.

Any optimism I had after qualifying about this being a good, close race evaporated after watching the sprint.

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Norris about to have Sainz for lunch, me thinks. Those softs aren't going to hold up.

There is no way Sainz can hold on to his tires

Lewis has been waiting for this fight since 2021, this is going to be spicy.

I swear to god Hamilton goes off the track and overtakes someone every single race

EDIT: It was a fair overtake after seeing the replays.
