Can't get up. Cat under doona. So sad.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Terrible. You will just have to stay in bed until the cat agrees it is time to get up.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Indeed. I'm structural at this point, a vital part of his habitat

I've been exercising as usual but not posting much on account of it being my 50th birthday in the last few days. I've been gutsing on cake and gorging on various takeaway foods as is tradition (on my birthday anyway!). My colleagues gave me some lovely gifts and a very tall cake and made me feel special. Fam were a bit hit and miss. I do feel a little different in a way that's hard to describe. You can be in denial about getting older as much as you like, but something about hitting a half century hits different. This is going to sound a bit silly, but it almost feels like a very faint shadow over me that others can't really see, but I know is there. I'm still the same positive, happy and determined me, but there's just this.. thing. I'm not doing too well at describing it, but it's an odd feeling, that's for sure.

All the chores are done before midday... is, is this what it's like to be normal. I've vacuumed, mopped, put washing on, done the dishes, and I've even changed the sheets, and dusted.

Edit- Ok so maybe not normal... I am an all at once sort of person though, I like to either get everything done in one go or not bother at all.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Maybe what it's like to be fully on top of things, but I'm not sure it is normal. Normal is "oops, I left the washing in the machine again". Possibly followed by being distracted enroute to the washing machine by something else that needs to be done and not actually ending up hanging the washing.

Edit: I managed to hang the washing without being distracted. This time.

dusting is not normal, no.

[–] bananafungus@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Family of asthmatics probably plays into it being normal for me.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

oh same here, but as the token non-asthmatic I stopped that shit as soon as I moved out of the family home :P

(I keed, I still dust but the joke has to be salvaged somewhere, dammit)

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

This is not normal. Normal, well, see comments below. On the plus side now is reelaaaax time. Maybe go out for a coffee and a nice brunch with a very clear conscience?

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Bloody hell, most of last week was this morass of depression and bleakness and everything seemed doomed, but I'm all positive and light and energetic today despite being up till 4am? What gives, brain? Is it really just the sun??? (It can't just be vitamin D because I take seriously big doses)

Sheets all being washed and dried, haven't started packing yet but have a bit of a list. Much easier packing for warm climates. Must get to Leo's this arvo to get some gifts, and use up what's left in the fridge tonight. Looks like it'll be kale pasta sauce.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Might be that today seems a little bit brighter.

I somewhat do believe that we have ups and downs like a biorhythm as well so it could be something like that.

pakidge #1 has arrived. Potato in air fryer now.

It is lighter than I expected, which is good as it will make it easy to put in and out of a cupboard and gives me more options as to where I can put it.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I have been working out to do with the food I need to use up, and have realised I have all the ingredients for a great pavlova. Which is really tempting, but then I would have to eat an entire pavlova, which is probably not the healthiest idea. I guess I'll stick with the quiche and cakes for the freezer plan.

My adhd diagnostic appointment has been moved from the 23rd of November to this Thursday the 19th if October!!! Work is accommodating me for it and I am so stoked!! Nervous cause what if somehow despite my research, and doing the DSM5 myself, they tell me I don't have ADHD but genuinely so keen to officially be diagnosed and take further steps to be the best me ever. Thanks to the bank of mum and dad for helping me with the fee a month sooner then expected.

This sore throat really sucks. It seems to have progressed to my ear now, so razor blades in my ear and my throat when I swallow. Still negative though.

Edit. Thanks all, doctors appointment tomorrow morning sorted.

[–] 6368_39162@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Anecdote, Betadine throat drops will cause vomit, avoid. Gargling dissolved aspirin might help.

Difflam have a throat numbing spray you can pick up just over the counter. If you're an asthmatic of having issues breathing it's not good for you though.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Get that checked at the doctor's if you haven't already, last thing you want is an infection wreaking unchecked havoc

Just back from first aid prac training - was a little worried about the cats as I usually don't leave them for more than three hours and the last time I did there were worried little faces to greet me.
However this time Zooks was basking in the sun in the front window and Sammi on my bed, and they graciously accepted the offer of food. 😂.
Oh and they're expressing their displeasure by swatting at each other, but ah well.

[–] oztrin@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Sammi woke me up at 4:45 yowling. As far as I could tell it was a mix of 'the litter tray needs scooping' (I heard her hit it just before I dropped off and again just before the yowling started) and 'while you're at it, feed me'. Horror.
The amazing thing was Zooks slept through it - until I elbowed her by accident because I hadn't realised she was sleeping there.
Now we're all awake and not too happy about it.

6.4k this morning. Felt pretty good too. Doggo back in bed for a few hours.

I plated up a giant piece of cake for myself and MissGod walks into kitchen, pokes me in the stomach and says, “feeding the little one ?”

I fucking died…

I think I know what the problem with the spinach damping off is. The pots are self watering and perhaps the heavy rains filled the bottom reservoir then flooded the soil. Causing any fungus or bacteria to overgrow.

I should have been tipping the excess water out regularly but forgot, lately I’ve had my hands full with just myself and the furbaby.

Am I going to have to dump this crop, get rid of the soil, clean the pot and start again?

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Dump out water, let dry, watch.

Water if needed, but otherwise plants are pretty damned hardy.

I'd try emptying out the water and letting the soil dry off, then watering from the top with a dilute seaweed fertiliser. Dump the water that filters through into the reservoir a couple of times and keep watering the soil itself for a while to help to flush out any nasty things built up in the soil. If the damage is not too bad it should recover, but if it is not showing good new growth in a week or two then you might need to go with new soil.

Not a good night. Baby woke up at 3, was hungry so he got fed. Then fussed for halfa before spewing (not just spitting up, full on projectile) over everything. Got him cleaned up then surprise, he was hungry again. Poor little fella is having a tough time adjusting to the new 6 month formula. Mrs was also feeling crook so now Im worried its gonna be a round of Gastro, but so far I'm fine.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Does he potentially have any food allergies or intolerances to something in the new stuff? I’m not a parent so I apologise if this oversteps.

Just throwing it out there as that can be sneaky and finding a sensitivity now could save a lot of pain.

Edit: Having a look and apparently it doesn’t hurt them to stay on starter formula until 1 year old, so if he really has too bad a time adjusting you could have the option to revert to what was working. It seems the follow on formula may be higher in iron but I guess in this situation fed is best.

A sibling also had a very relaxed sphincter at the top of their stomach and required thickened formula to help keep it down. If none of that works it’s paediatrician time

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I dont THINK so, its the same brand and everything so should be fine, but deffo keep an eye on it.

These American true crime stories all start out the same.

Bumfuck is a small town. Middle of nowhere. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody knows everybody's business. Nobody locks their doors. Everybody owns a gun or 2. Nothing ever happens here. It's a sleepy town you know.

Alright I added a line in there but it's true.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I'm in trouble from Ted Cat. Either late for bed or not enough of his favourite cat food. 😬

[–] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Someone has dumped a wrecked tyre in my garden. Where can I dispose of it? Heard a Moron doing burnouts, guess he threw his trashed tyre into my place.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Put it on nature strip and call the council?
