@youronlyone @gaming Bear in mind you'll get a bit of a boost when the debugging flags are turned off. That said, if you want efficient you should probably be using SteamCMD, the Valve supported official command line client: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD

@jaduncan@mastodon.social Ahh, there are debugging flags… yeah, that explains it.
Thank you for the SteamCMD suggestion! I'll give it a try. Much appreciated!
Luckily compact mode is still a thing.
@youronlyone@calckey.social @gaming@a.gup.pe @gaming@lemmy.ml tldr; new client? :ai_yay:
@gaycookie @youronlyone @gaming@lemmy.ml @gaming@a.gup.pe I'm sure it updates 4x as often
@pixelpusher220@universeodon.com No doubt it will. Beta often is not tested on as many configurations as possible.
@youronlyone@calckey.social @gaming@a.gup.pe @gaming@lemmy.ml Oeh I just opt-in on the Beta and I see new client! Looking fresh :nomnom:
@gaycookie@mis.ski How is it on your end? Using Windows or Linux? No slowless, delayed clicks, and Steam shortcut keys not working (or super delayed)?
@youronlyone@calckey.social @gaming@a.gup.pe @gaming@lemmy.ml Currently using Windows and all seems fine so far. :ai_yay:
@youronlyone@calckey.social @gaming@a.gup.pe @gaming@lemmy.ml Here is a video, you can see how the client itself reacts and feels the same maybe even smoother then before, beside that shortcuts seem to work fine too.
Frankly, I use a Windows 7 installation (dual boot) without network connection and repack versions of a couple of the old games (in Sandboxie instances) that I like to play on occasion.
I don't want internet dependencies or third party control just to play a game I bought.
When you're hooked on non-local LAN multiplayer, you're simply out of luck.
@youronlyone @gaming@a.gup.pe @gaming@lemmy.ml I wouldn't call my PC low-end, but it's not really high-end either, and it works really well for me. Maybe it will get better after time, it's still in beta after all
I mean, depends how low end we're talking. They're enabling hardware acceleration which should help a lot.
The new in-game overlay on the other hand is causing loads of issues on my high end gaming rig...
I've also had issue on my rig (Win10) whilst being in the library, and opening a store link in steam chat, it sometimes creates an error at the top of my screen and pushes the rest of my library down :D
Also plainly the in-game overlay sometimes just doesn't work for me, although I love it when it works <3
