I have copyrighted VHS tapes from the 80's (mostly wrestling, music videos, magic instruction) and I would like to find someone in the US with the equipment to properly rip them for the community.

The bigger libraries in my area have digitizing equipment that you are free to use as a member, so might be worth checking that out

If it's copyrighted material he still needs to get something to filter out the Macrovision protection. I don't think they have this in public libraries.

Oh my bad then. VHS tapes are not something im super familiar with

The basic, starter-level equipment in order to do this is very easy to obtain. You should be able to find a unit that will convert component and/or S-Video into a digital signal for very cheap.

Ok, but isn't there a difference between ripping for myself and ripping for everyone? Don't you want someone with the best equipment and who knows what they're doing?

I see people ask this in the data hoarders subreddit all the time and see people reply offering help. You may want to try there, if you're willing to - since there's a lot more traffic, there's more people with fancy setups and the knowledge to go with it that could see your post.

I hope you can find what you're looking for. Thanks for wanting to preserve and share what you've got with others. Good luck! :)
