Well, I opened my mouth a bit to soon. It appears kitty passed away sometime in the night on the couch nestled among the pillows. Had to wake the poor housemate up and give her the news, and she is not taking it well.

R.I.P to the little man himself.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

So sorry to hear that. It's never easy for us, but it does sound like he had about as good a passing as possible.

Just wanted quickly pop in and say thank you all for your words of condolence this morning, they were much appreciated. It's going to be a bit sad for a while, but all will be well again soon.

Housemate has decided to have him cremated (he was technically theirs), and I've secretly called the crematorium to have him upgraded to an urn that looks like a sleeping cat, so he will look nice amongst their little fancy knick knacks shelf.

At the local shops saw a bloke with a 'Vote No' t-shirt. Held my stare a bit too long and he saw me shaking my head.

He got a bit fired up and asked me if I disagree with his opinion.

I told him that I was actually wondering why he didn't buy one in his size, cause his gut was hanging out of the bottom.

He called me an 'abo cunt' and a few other choice words while he stormed off.

I love people sometimes :)

Considering that I'm white as fuck, that really confused me.

haha sounds like you ruined his day, well done

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

I figure he wanted a reaction from someone so I gave him one. I hope he's still muttering to himself.

My wife really knows some really simple recipes that are delicious.

A few days ago she prepared some chopped up tomatoes, shallots, seasoned with a bit of salt. Loved it.

Last week when I asked her what she wanted for breakfast, she responded with rice and bacon, nothing else. Also loved it.

Looks like dad may have just had food poisoning, he's feeling a lot better now so I've been released into the world. About to head back to the city but couldn't resist my curiosity for one of these local sausage rolls before I go. They must be good because they're the only thing sold out but they're making more, but I gotta wait.

lol just saw a regular youngish Melton family come out of the bakery.. ex-local footy legend type and a pub princess, with their 2 little rat tail haired kids around 5 or 6 years old. I thought "I bet one of them is named Jackson or similar", then the dad called out to one "Jackson!". I know my home town.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think you'll find it's Jayxcon, pronounced Jackson.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 points 1 year ago

Nah gotta keep it simple Jaxon.

As I will soon be having my own kitchen (for the first time in 2 years) and I want to continue my healthy eating/losing weight, does anyone have some good websites for healthy dinner recipes? Trying to get on top of it so I don't get junk food under the guise of 'I just moved, you deserve it'.

Plus I am excited to learn to cook.

Handing back bboi butters to SIL today.

He's had quite the adventure.

So glad nothing bad happened to him. Objectively every time I look after him it's just mind boggling how intelligent and clever he is. I thought my old abyssinian was up there but this thing is a few steps beyond that.

Bit of a relief handing back really. No type of door will stop that cat.

I've come to feed my friends cats and I don't know why I'm speaking to them like they're little kids.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

They appreciate it.

How you doin little munchkins then you tell them your shopping list and they're still kinda keen on it.

Welp that's the rest of my weekend fucked. I was ok with not going anywhere too far and once a day popping over to my friends place to look after her cats while she's interstate but this morning as I was taking her to the airport I got a phone call from my dad's friend saying dad's sick and he's asked if I can come and stay at the house. So I'll have to drive from Melton back into my place in Docklands, then scoot over to hers to look after the cats (no parking at hers) then come back here to Melton.

Dad has taken up residence in the lounge with a spew bucket so I don't want to be near that. I've just taken myself to a back bedroom where I've just got my phone to keep entertained, ready to be called in when he needs something.

I guess that means I could get a Buddy's pie for lunch though. I better not catch whatever dad's got or I'll be PISSED.

Today my evil plan to mow the lawns while the GF is on may have to be postponed due to hot weather (not good for lawns). So I'm going to start up the mower at 8.30 am precisely to wake everyone up so that they can get ready for the GF or whatever they plan to do. It's a public service really.

Continuing my evening of decadence, I just ate some apple crumble that I got from a nearby Vietnamese bakery and omg it was a mouth orgasm.

Always takes more time to cook in an unfamiliar kitchen and especially one that is cleaned so meticulously that you're conscious of keeping it spotless when you're done. Anyway, at long last, dinner is served. I posted more about the Mexican rice and the jackfruit side on Food Australia here. and after that post I put together a red cabbage and carrot slaw using this recipe.

And just like that a Trailing ice plant appeared

These flowers close at sunset which is trippy.

[–] dumblederp@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Pig Face. I used to collect it, then I lost most of it during a bad summer replanting exercise. I love the way it blooms so intensely for a few weeks each year. I planted out some garden beds with it at a rental which looked amazing in bloom. Then we left and the landlord had it all ripped out and replaced with... nothing, just bare shitty hydrophobic dirt

I may have eaten too many party pies. It will be a light dinner tonight for sure.

Also had cocktail frankfurts.
A napkin with 2 party pies and a cocktail frankfurt

Ate a bit too much and now stuck in a stupor. Have picked up groceries to cook for tonight and the one thing that snapped me out of feeling lobotomised was the outrageousness of paying $3 for one of those stupid little plastic trays of coriander - not even a whole bunch but a few measly leaves. I felt dirty paying for it because I had nowhere else to get any nearby. Coriander: definitely one of those things totally worth growing if you can.

One good friend of mine is a hard core Collingwood supporter. Another good friend of mine passionately supports Brisbane. Both want me on their side today. Today’s Grand Final will be…something I have to carefully negotiate. Help!

So glad work was quiet today. Stopped off at coles on the way home and I've never seen northcote plaza so quiet. It was also great for autistic butt to be able to shop at coles with barely any people. There should be grand finals every day. Also, I don't follow footy at all but may Collingwood die on the field and suffer in their jocks for eternity. I want to drink their miserable tears and gain sustenance and power from their grief.

Am I the only one that doesn't care about the game today? XD For me it's just a normal Saturday with chores and gym (but killer weather!)

[–] bull@aussie.zone 8 points 1 year ago

Of course you're not the only one

Putting my new aircon to the test tonight for the first time. I'm feeling absolutely decadent and positively Marie Antoinette- esque.

Went out rental scooting after taking care of the cats. It's lovely out. Missed a phone call from my nan, she leaves a voicemail message "it's not important, just wondering how your dad is" (no idea why she didn't call him) so I keep scooting. She calls 4 more times in 5 minutes. Leaves another almost identical voicemail message. Old people.

Finally finished my last assignment for this trimesters unit. It was a group assignment. 4 in a group. 2 did nothing. How is it fair my grade suffers because of them?

Group work sucks. Online group work is even worse.
