The Indian media is filled with so much BJP/right wing propaganda right now. Especially on YouTube and Instagram. That stupid modi has brainwashed so many young Indians into his hateful ideology. Its hard to find a rational indian who thinks for themselves on social media.

You'll find them going around harassing muslim content creators and even straight up just Pakistani ones. This leads them to have an illusion that we indians are obsessed with them when in reality, it's just a loud minority.

However, I'm not seeing much of a push back against this from the leftist side. In fact, any time a leftist try to add some sense into these dumbasses minds, these bitches still don't listen and twist their arguments. Take dhruv rathee for example. (I know he's not a leftist but his video on kerala story was mostly accurate.)

In the US, there's also a lot of bullshit happening. In fact, they're also going through what india is going through as well - religious extremism. But Christianity in their case. Christians there are trying to ban abortion, ban lgbtq people, ban drag queens, ban science books etcetera. And just like the hindutva is demonizing Muslims, Christians are demonizing lgbtq people.

But there's also a very strong leftist movement there who are there to oppose those things. But in india, the leftist movement is far weaker and silenced by stupid right wingers which is not good because it will further make it easier for people to fall for their propaganda. We indian leftists need to stand up and do something more to strengthen our movement. Because looking at the current situation of this country, it's only going to get worse.

Its hard to answer this when I personally bemoan how weak the left is in America. Democrats are centre right at best. Corporate social media and news media tend to lean to the right as well. We haven't had a firm leftist movement since the days of Blair Mountain imo.

Movements start with people. Talk to your co-workers. If they don't want to try to bargain collectively with your boss, look for a union job elsewhere. Do they have those in India?

A great example of a weak left is our current president. According to the Right, he’s a leftist, but he was elected as a moderate/centrist and a big part of his platform was to try to bring us back together , heal some of the divisiveness.

Just to add to this conversation, if China is fucking around in the US democratic system, wouldn't it make sense for them to do the same thing with a much more nearby, even more hostile neighbor? If more Indian people are spending time worrying about Pakistan, that is less energy to devote towards worrying about China.

It seems like the problem will probably require a tech solution of some sort. Here in the States we can't shut the propaganda valve off in any other way without betraying our freedom of information-type values. (1st amendment rights basically)

India is a very diverse country. Unfortunately history has shown that a unified India never has lasted. This is an issue that faces many countries and frankly this simple division is what causes problems. If you could find a way to unite people in stronger way than religionist actions you can for a party around it unfortunately iirc India historically has had terrorist groups what where more left leaning.

I'm not Indian, but coming across Gaddaar by Bloodywood gave me hope that the left hasn't lost its voice over there. If you ever wanted hear Rage Against the Machine in Hindi, check these guys out.

In the US, a lot of these belief systems are focused on individual states or cities. For example the left coast and NorthEast tend to be more liberal/Progressive while the middle and southern states are more likely be more Conservative. Cities are more likely to be liberal/progressive while rural is more likely to be conservative. My flavor of politics is reinforced because it’s dominant in my state or city.

Does India have similar patterns?

the conservative are foccused in the middle and the ones who are progressive are usually closer to the coast and major cities.
