Imagine hitting your ankle to one of the hooks

[–] gruvn@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago

I can't help imagining my kid falling over, and impaling his eye sockets. Unlikely? Probably. But still a hard pass.

Why is my brain like this?

[–] canthidium@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Doesn't seem like it would be an issue. You wouldn't be walking right along the wall close enough to hit them. Plus if it's in a corner like in the pic, even less chance. Not my pic, so I wouldn't know in person.

You don't know me or my clumsiness. I'd find a way 😂

There's a 90% chance I'll catch my shoelace, trip and impale myself on one of those hooks.

You must be really and I mean really tall to have ankles 12-16 inches off the floor.

That's cute. I like the look. But one of the major benefits of a shoe shelf is you can take the shoes on and off and place them on the shelf with just your feet. I'd have a really hard time putting my shoes on a shoe hook with my foot only

This is one of the most inconvenient things I've ever witnessed.

Nice clean wall you have there. It would be a shame if it would happen anything to it.

This is how you fuck up your shoes. Use shoe trees with a proper rack instead.

[–] IzzyScissor@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

Now I can display the most visually appealing parts of my shoes! The soles!

In all seriousness, this would create a giant mess instantly. Imagine the mud stuck to the bottom of shoes just on display for anyone walking past.

Well obviously you would have to live somewhere where you could mount things to the wall to do this.

When you're going to move, you can simply unscrew the rack and spackle over the screw holes in about 10 minutes. Home goods stores usually sell kits like these:

I recommend watching a quick 10 minute YouTube video on the procedure just to get acquainted with the process, but it's relatively simple.

Landlords still have to abide by the "use the abide as a reasonable person would" that includes hanging things on the walls.

[–] Nerorero@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Please don't, that's the exact height of wires. The legally required one, in Germany at least

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You could fit more by putting a shelf there instead and it'd only be a few inches deeper.

And out of reach from the dog

[–] fiat_lux@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm told this after I start building a shoe rack... damn it!

[–] canthidium@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Lol, I still prefer a shoe rack, but this looked like an interesting idea.

[–] RecallMadness@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

I’m the boot hanging a foot off the wall.

[Hobbit confusion intensifies.]
