I couldn't finish season 2, I'm really surprised this one got renewed while so many other shows got cut.

The writing in season 2 was awful, and some dialogue was so bad that it pulled me out of the show

Hopefully this means that they'll fix the issues moving forward

It won't be, it's a Taylor Sheridan show, he's going to be writing and shooting season 3 while working on 4 other projects.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The actor, who suffered 30 broken bones in a New Year’s Day snowplow accident, is set to return to his starring role in the streamer’s Taylor Sheridan drama Mayor of Kingstown.

Sources say the series had been quietly picked up months ago but the streamer delayed a formal announcement for the crime drama’s return while Renner recovered from his injuries.

Renner shared on social media in May that he was continuing to make progress on his recovery and had begun lightly jogging on a treadmill for the first time since he was hospitalized.

As for the show, Renner stars as Mike McLusky in the drama that explores the family who keeps the peace in a town filled with street gangs, prisoners, guards and cops.

The Writers Guild is currently seeking streaming viewership transparency from Hollywood’s top streamers and studios, as well as an effort to tie residuals to show performance.

Both exec produce alongside Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson and Regina Corrado.
