I want to collapse comments, not posts It’s the most annoying thing in the world trying to click a link in the post body but then the entire post collapses

I wouldn’t say to disable it - but if there was an option to toggle on/off somewhere, that would be awesome.

Agreed. Especially for long text posts it's handy to collapse the post. But more often than not it happens when I try to click a link and miss the hitbox ever so slightly. So maybe for posts a button to collapse would be the way to go?

I do like that idea. I think Apollo (or one of the Reddit apps) had something that expanded the hit box on links to prevent that as well - that could potentially be useful, too.

I’m trying to make the link clickable area bigger to avoid this problem in general with posts and comments. So that should partially resolve it. Maybe we can also add an option to disable collapsing posts

Another suggestion to solve it. Collapsing could be done with a long touch instead of a tap. So tapping would do nothing unless you tap a link. Touch and hold for a half second or so would collapse the text. Might be a little tricky to not mix with scrolling?

That would be pretty easy to implement actually. But at least for comments we wanted it to be a short press like in Apollo. I use it all the time that way and would rather not have to long press. I think with some tweaking it can be improved, unfortunately we both just aren't react native experts so we're learning as we go.

Apollo also had the option to swipe to collapse instead, which worked way better in my opinion. Avelon currently allows this too is you wanted to see it in action.

Agreed for comments. I also use that all the time and I'm sure we aren't the only ones. I was thinking of this for the post text only... But that makes for an inconsistent interface. Hmmm

As for the last bit, I'm quite certain that most of us just learn languages as needed. I certainly do 😂

Agree. The post collapsing makes no sense

I use it instead of the jump button. Same reason, jump to the next comment.

I like it better because I can jump to comments to different levels. I can also do it when only holding my phone in my left hand.

I prefer having collapsible posts.
