Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

That's how you get a Manson family with 70 million members.

I suspect they're not trying to do a good thing--what they're doing is likely making psychedelics as easy to access as possible, get everyone doing them, have that (obviously) go poorly, and then say "See? Nixon was right, minorities bad.”

RFK spoke positively of psychedelics in the same sentence as raw milk, so I think we're about to see decades of progress reversed.

The raw milk thing is so dumb. I somehow stumbled upon it on Tiktok and most of them heat the milk up before consuming it lol... do they not know what pasteurization is?

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 22 minutes ago

They're probably doing it wrong: not long enough, not high enough temperature, lack of other basic sanitary protections.

Also, TikTok is cancer.

TikTok content creator and "knowing" are like oil and water. Mixing requires soap. I don't know what soap is.

A broken clock is right once a day. I use 24H time.

well that's good as I'd like to spend the next four years as far from reality as possible.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm thinking of getting a camper van to do just that.

Ego death might benefit a few of these people

[–] JamesTBagg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I know one guy who went through this. He was one of the most insufferable, alpha-male, Tate/Rogan macho men, he-man woman hater... I knew of not one person that liked him, only a few could even tolerate him.
He suffered... suffered might be the wrong word, experienced an ego death on shrooms. I won't say I liked him but he became calmer, he became someone you could talk to. He became someone others CHOSE to socialize with, they invited him out.
The transformation in this guy's personality was amazing. I don't know that his social or political views changed, but he absolutely did.

I think that if you get a position in Congress / the White House / the Supreme Court you should be required to pick from a menu of ego-shattering experiences before you take office. Psychedelics are on the list, but there can be other options in case drugs are no good for you. Things like extended fasting, a round in a sensory deprivation tank, a trip to orbit, being present for an organ donor having their organs removed... I'm sure we could come up with a list of drug-free experiences that would be transportative and drive home that you aren't the center of the universe.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 20 minutes ago

I've known raving fascist assholes who also took psychedelics. They're not a panacea, however much you might like to imagine they are.

[–] Bacano@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

Fr lol. Everyone should safely try a heavy psilocybin dose at least once. (Unless you have a genetic history of schizophrenia)

[–] PentastarM@midwest.social 34 points 17 hours ago

Maybe they will be so gorked out of their minds that they'll fail to implement anything in Project2025

[–] EndlessApollo@lemmy.world 24 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Who's ready for MKUltra part 2?? :DDDDD

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 16 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I volunteer.

Best case, I get to see the beauty of existence and get a Wikipedia page.

Worst case, I finally snap and die after shooting myself in the back of the head twice.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I thought it was: snap, live off the land in seclusion and build drone bombs from scratch

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Also a fun outcome.
