My hopes for DLC (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by deeves@lemmy.world to c/baldurs_gate_3@lemmy.world

So with the success of Baldur's Gate 3 DLC is pretty much inevitable. Here is my unsolicited fantasy scenario for what that would look like 🙏

Spring, summer, and fall:

An origins pack that would have one pre-made character and one custom character origin like The Dark Urge. The premade would have a new meaty questline and can double as a new companion when not selected of course, and even if you don't buy the DLC the base game's map will still have new locations related to those questlines added with a free update. And there would be a slew of new cosmetics for character creation themed around the new custom character origin.

Suggested retail price: $9.99.

November - December:

A big ol' 30-hour-long proper expansion with the same quality as Witcher 3: Blood and Wine.

Suggested retail price: $24.99.

18 new origins and three expansions or bust!

I kinda hope they go the old school route with something like Throne of Bhaal for BG2 with an additional act and more high level abilities. Bit early yet though, given the success I'm sure we have great things to look forward to no matter what Larian decides to do next.

They've said that doing higher level expansions/DLC is going to be unlikely, because scaling content after Level 12 is difficult to do in a CRPG
