I don't believe that's a true fuck cars moment. Sure, you can use cars to kill people on purpose, but the much bigger issue is the amount of accidents that kill people through cars.
Still, sad for the victims.

Guns don't kill people. ~~People~~ Cars do.
The road should have been designed to make this incident nearly impossible. Something as simple and relatively cheap as bollards could have prevented this.
