Rep. Adam Smith:

Joe Biden was not picked in 2020 because he was the only person that could beat Trump. He was picked because he was the only person that could beat Bernie Sanders…

As long as Citizens United stands and corporations can directly pay politicians the people will never win again, whether they realize it or not.

My top issue has been get money out of politics since I was 18 (like ~15 years ago). It blows my mind it never even cracks the top 20 for most Americans

We're simply too dumb at the moment. We need to somehow educate the population... very quickly. But we should expect anything we say to be labeled PC, CRT, woke, etc. We should pick something and stick with it and defend it - not shy away and cower as we have been doing

Hopefully its anecdotal but a lot of the people I talk to at work seem to think the government should be run like a business. So that should speak to intelligence.

We need a social movement. I was listening to the latest RevLeft episode, and they talked about a coalescing of third parties to work together, I thought it was an interesting suggestion.

lol sure, maybe this will be the time when leftists stop fighting eachother and join forces to stop fascism and capitalism for like the first time ever.

Bernie instead of Hillary back in 2016 would've been so good.

I remember going up on NPR during the 2016 election because of the obvious bias they showed promoting Clinton over Sanders.

It's important to remember the Democratic Party is a private coalition of politicians whose goal is to obtain and maintain personal power and wealth. Bernie Sanders was not and is not a Democrat, didn't owe them any favors, wasn't playing their game, and would have directly and effectively reduced their personal power and wealth. Stopping Sanders at the expense of the party was the right move given their goals.

It just sucks for everybody else. Well, except the rival coalition of politicians who had an outsider that they could use as a puppet to increase their own personal power and wealth.

Who will take Sanders's place as the voice of the traditional Left when he dies? I love him but we have to prepare for this contingency
