What a bizarre and pointless idea.
The only thing that would accomplish it to get Trump to reprint all his "45-47" hats. It might also fuck up the certification if there is no sitting VP when they count the votes.
If Biden was inclined to do it, the right time would have been a year ago. Doing it now is useless.
False premise.
Biden handing the nomination to Harris does not mean he's unfit to finish the term.
It's a fun idea, but the petition is laughable for the reason given.
I confess that I really like this idea - in theory Harris would then be able to become the only president other than FDR to hold more than two full terms.
But yeah, Biden's not that bad. Idea good, premise not.
There's no good reason mentioned except "he's old" and "she deserves it". Make a legit case or don't bother with this. It also fuels the fire of the old talking point that she was going to take over once he got elected. She wouldn't want a "token" appointment like this, it's an insult.
I saw another petition floating around too for the 14th Amendment to get invoked and keep Trump from office. Not falling for that reverse-loyalty pledge.
