Zoom's Terms of Service say the company can train AI on user data with no mention of a way to opt out. Now Zoom says you don’t need to worry because the company swears it won’t actually do that, even though the Terms of Service say it can.

"Clicking agree allows us to come into your bedroom at night and sleep with your wife. Don't worry, we wouldn't actually do that, even though we did take the time to explicitly add that to our terms of service. You can trust us."

Outside of simply being unaware, I don't know why anyone would willingly hand their face, voice, or words to Zoom, of all companies. Their awful track record includes not only slurping up all the data they can get, but acting on behalf of China's government (censorship and who knows what else), and directly lying about the encryption used in their services.

IMHO, training language models with their users' data without permission is not at all surprising, and is perhaps the least of the problems with that company. I suggest anyone who is considering using their service do some web searches first. They have been covered by more than a few journalists in the past few years.

I have sometimes been forced to use it for work. I have never willingly used it though.
