At this point, the man deserves life time achievement awards especially for literacy advocacy since to my knowledge he's never taken a break from that.

Totally agree. Presidential Medal of Freedom is not unjustified.
He is a TV icon and progressive pioneer for Roots, Reading Rainbow, and Star Trek. He is a champion of black rights and normalizing black people being educators. He has influenced millions to read more and become more educated and literate.
It’s a sin he hasn’t been given one already.

Dude was my hero and role model growing up. Loved watching startrek and reading rainbow because of him.
