I wouldn't hold my breath. He won his primary by more votes than Trump did this year. Cruz is intensely popular in the televangelical wing of the party and firmly entrenched in the state. Meanwhile, Allred still has middling name recognition and lackluster enthusiasm.
I'd have a party if either of those happen.

My post was deleted earlier (improperly linked the debate livestream), but I think that Allred held up really well and got Cruz so mad he was yelling at parts, which in contrast Allred hadn't shown much anger until the very end where Cruz started to try and twist Allreds words before their closing statements. My worry was that there would be a few answers like the economic plans or the ongoing conflicts in Israel that could have been a point where Allred could be weak in, but instead it was reassuring that he was able to tie it in to his overall message for Texans to fire Cruz by showing himself as competent and able to view problems as a bigger picture instead of freaking out about transgender sports.
Cruz was such a shitshow. "I don't have to answer because I'm not part of the state legislature". We know exactly what that means you fucking coward. Brave Sir Rafael ran away.

He's Canadian? Didn't he run for president in 2016? I know I could ddg this....
Wikipedia shows him as dual citizenship, born to an American mother (father may have been American, but only one parent is needed), and renounced his Canadian citizenship 10 years or so ago. Samantha Bee did a piece on him, showing some bad acting in high school, although it could have just been high school quality acting. I believe he was living in Toronto at the time.
Soft teeth Ted was born in Calgary, Alberta.
And true to character Ted proceeded to prove him right by rambling about illegal immigrants.
