Kamala prefers war criminals to leftists.

Driven by a woeful misunderstanding of what went wrong in both 2016 and 2000.

Of course I am an Adult Gen Z. I am certainly NOT 3 shriveled boomers in a trench coat.

Yeah… I would follow the money. Their website doesn’t appear to disclose anything about their funding. https://votersoftomorrow.org/about-us/

[–] TheOubliette@lemmy.ml 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Based solely on appearances most of the people listed on that page are millennials or older lmao

To be fair, you can advocate for a group you aren't a part of. I advocate for LGBTQIA rights and I'm none of those.

That's not an inherent red flag.

[–] TheOubliette@lemmy.ml 6 points 19 hours ago

Their website is full of language implying it is about Gen Zers standing up for themselves. Lots of We's and US's.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 5 points 19 hours ago

That's why I'm voting PSL 😏

[–] TheOubliette@lemmy.ml 6 points 21 hours ago

Their org page has all the trappings of a typical Dem "think tank" / trough feeder org. Looking to get in in that sweet graft.

No advocacy group against First Past The Post voting? Isn't the biggest concern with Jill stein running is that she is "going to steal votes from the democrats"? Attack the problem at its source, the FPTP voting system.

When we get to use a more representative voting system, people would be free to vote for Jill stein; secure in the knowledge that their vote would still be cast against the republicans if she didn't win.

Don't the democrats want to beat the Republicans in any way they can? Why is the DNC saying no to these extra votes? Don't democrats believe in democracy? Who could possibly say no to more democracy?

[–] basmati@lemmus.org 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Democrats have no interest in democracy or anything that weakens their corporate power, like rcv/star/democratic voting methods.

[–] rigatti@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think that's true of all Democrats. Have there not been progressives pushing for alternative voting methods?

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Almost entirely signal boosted as proof of a carrot that both will most likely never arrive, and most likely won't change anything even if it did arrive. There's a large difference between individuals pushing for something and them actually managing to get them passed at a scale that matters.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

okay but it’s been passed in plenty of your states and that hasn’t been without democrat party support

you don’t just change the system overnight - change like that can take a lifetime, and it starts with signalling to move the overton window

Very few states, actually, and it passed in Alaska in a Republican state. Overall, it has weak momentum.

How do you signal to "move the overton window?" Prayer?

If only there was some kind of smaller election before the general election where we get to vote on who represents the Democratic party...

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

If only we could vote on leftist candidates in the primary for the DNC, as though it isn't a grand filter before anyone even gets to run...

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Is there a sitting member of the Democratic party that you would consider a "leftist" or one that holds leftist values?

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 hours ago

Depends on what you mean by "leftist values." The closest is probably Rashida Tlaib, but in general "The Squad" consists of Social Democrats, which I would consider Center-Right.

[–] formergijoe@lemmy.world -5 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Surely the Russians aren't funding an anti-Jill Stein campaign AND the Jill Stein campaign.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago

it’s entirely possible that this is true - the point is to sow discord and dissent rather than electing specific candidates… they just want everyone to hate everyone else and everything. they want yall fighting amongst yourselves

[–] basmati@lemmus.org -2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Well of the two candidates, Harris actually receives untraceable funding, and no Russian funds have been linked to stein.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

that’s… just basic statistics given the difference in campaign sizes

i’m not trying to wave it off or anything, but i’d suggest that it’s entirely expected

[–] basmati@lemmus.org 2 points 9 hours ago

But contrary to the claim being made, also you can refuse funding as a candidate. You don't have to be supported by opaque super PACs.

[–] Retreaux@lemmy.world -4 points 22 hours ago

Smart move regardless
