Today is the 105th day of the ethnic and communal genocidal violence in Manipur, India. Today is also the 76th anniversary of India's independence from British rule. Peace and safety have not returned to the land. The violence has morphed into a civil war, with the state of Manipur split into Meitei-controlled valley and Kuki-controlled hills. Central forces like the CRPF & Assam Rifles have created a buffer zone between the two to control the violence. Bombs attacks, raids, gun violence is being carried out on both communities by the other and the response is more violence. Morgues are full of corpses that lie unclaimed because its unsafe for people to go & claim their dead.

The Meitei-majority state govt is openly partisan to the Meitei and the Chief Minister Biren Singh is indifferent at best and actively against Kukis at worst, both in speech and in action. He also refuses to take any responsibility for his inability to end the violence. Manipur's Meitei-majority police & commando forces have handed over Kuki women to be raped and killed to Meitei mobs. These mobs led by the Hindu supremacist Meitei Leepun whose leader Pramot Singh is a close associate of the Biren Singh, and the Christian-hating black-shirted Arambai Tenggol whose leader is a member of the BJP, Prime Ministe modi's political party, and member of Parliament and again a close associate of the CM Biren Singh. The Manipur police have also reportedly allowed their armouries to be raided and some 5000 high-powered rifes and 600,000 rounds of ammo have been stolen.

The govt. of India is unwilling to stop the violence, and PM had to be dragged into Parliament (metaphorically) where he spoke about Manipur for 2 mins in his 2 hours 13 minute speech.
