So much love to my aunty who realised I was not ok, called me and spoke to me for over an hour so I'd feel less alone and anxious πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’› good night

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm sorry to hear about everything you're going through. I hope with vcats help things can settle down with your asshole LL

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Thanks. I've had the worst sleep, fragmented and overheated and taking way too long to wind down...

I have a feeling if anything gets to the point of vcat she's going to be even more agitated/vindictive. I wish she didn't pull this on a Friday, all the tenants rights and legal aid places are closed til Monday so this is kind of hanging over my head. There's a lot I need to get done for uni this weekend and it sure is hard to concentrate

She also stole all the TP making the blood clean up effort a bit more difficult. She had this all planned.

Reached out to a friend and so glad I did (and that she was available). We've roamed around, chatted at length and I got to stop and smell the roses 🌹 I've decided I won't check my email tonight. I need to recharge

These are my new glasses. Picking them up next week:

Ordered a pizza, had a nanna nap, upgraded my music software, grabbed a copy of silent Hill 2 remake for pc and some treats for the fluffy one.

Perfect Saturday!

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You'll forget to take them off and get in the shower on more than one occasion. I still do, many years later. πŸ˜‚

Slow cooker Silverside with Lillies Gold mustard based BBQ sauce, homemade bacon coleslaw on a toasted potato bun. Traditionalists need not apply

Goodnight from the shoebox cat household ❀️

There will be no party. Possible video cake thing. Yes, I’m upset. No, it isn’t about me. There is way too much cheese in the house.

dino birthday cake

There is way too much cheese in the house.

Not possible. Not for long.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

So disappointing after all your hard work. But you won't have to cook for a week, just eat cheese in everything. Eta: the cake looks awesome!

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Thanks, am a bit all over the place right now. Sudden changes, massive wasted money. Eh, fuck it!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

Hugs.

And I can help you with the cheese.

My flowers, after my MIL chopped them and stuck them in a vase in her lounge. Didn't even ask! I like my flowers outside (my window) where they're alive and I can look at them.

The bulbs came from my mothers garden, she had hundreds of flowering plants. Orchids, gladdies, roses, azaleas, you name it. I couldn't take much with me and I have little left. They were planted in a corner of the garden my MIL "gave" me. It is crowded with plants and flowers, just how I like it, whilst her part of the garden is barren and dull.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago

I'd be so pissed off at that.

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What is wrong with some people?? She didn't even do a good job with the arrangement.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago

Ikr? So cross about it.

Oh you have a broom rider in your life as well? Condolences..

think i might have a bit of a crush on a colleague, likely nothing’s gonna come out of it for various reasons but at the very least that makes going to work pleasant

Being on the drill constantly for that long yesterday made me have a nightmare about... my cordless drill. I'm not usually emotional about... drills.. but it stopped working and I was scared/sad :(

Went out this morning and it still works so that was a stupid dream.

Fucking mower slipped on the embankment and I mowed over 2 small trees that I’d been nurturing. I’m so angry at myself. Feels like I can’t get anything right at the moment.

Popping more posts in Aussie Frugal to keep it kicking.

I think some traditional frugal advice doesn’t really apply anymore (some stuff is no longer cost effective or as feasible) but am trying to think of the stuff that would still be useful to people adjusting to a newly lower budget.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A lot of it is long term habitual. His Lordship is struggling with his personal budget because he comes from a decently well off family and has always had good disposable income...meanwhile i earn half of what he does now but i grew up poor so i'm beetling along

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Second this - if you've ever been really poor then for the most part the current 'crisis' isn't one. And I have been. Choices get made on habit, but the absolute basics are still available and affordable. Does one really really need to drink only bottled water at a zillion per cent markup? Energy is another matter - what shits me about this is the unpredictability of current energy costs. Chalk that one up to capitalism.

Working 1 to 5

On a sat-ur-daay

It's sunny outside

But I'm not allowed to play...

My own fault for signing up to a conference and thinking I had tons of time to get the work done and prep a talk. Time has bitten me on the bum again. Please shoo me away if I try to sneak back in here this arvo.

One thing I'm becoming a Luddite about is writing things down more. There are some songs on guitar I can play if I play along to the tab, but I just haven't been able to memorise.

I've written down the passages with the first chord as reference and I can play by myself a lot better now.

I used to have a folder with print offs of songs. I stopped doing that when I moved to Melbourne because I didn't have the space or a printer.

By writing things down I can summarise passages of songs, then do the same thing for the structure, then I could just use the song name as a prompt and play the whole thing. I should have done this years ago

I’m looking at privacy film for at least one window. I’ve measured it and even just with crappy eBay film it’s at least $30.

Kind of resent spending money on a place I don’t want to be in… especially since shitty conditions are the reason.

I've finalised the songs and practiced them. They sound a fuck tonne better than last week, so I'm glad I actually had to put it off.

Goodnight everyone ❀️

Sitting in this glorious sun trying out a new banh mi place. Viet ice coffee’s hit different, it’s like 5 coffees in one without being too bitter. Buzzing right now and wondering what to do with all this energy before I crash hard.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Having a bad day. Hurt my back a bit.

Also it always sucks when you vent to someone (who you’re meant to) but they kind of say the wrong things/argue with you and make it worse.

The state of my house is bothering me. I’m pulling air through the place due to needing to use a scented carpet cleaner. The one I ordered isn’t here yet and certain spots needed another scrub (or there were new ones).

I seem to have buggered up in more than one way.

colourblind version of a cake

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (4 children)

That’s wild. The bottom photo looks like it was coloured in Pantone 448 C, which was chosen for cigarette packaging.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That's the colour green beans looked like in the 80s when they'd been boiled to death.

Down to Flinders for a walk in the sunshine and watch people floating around in the sky. Absolute ripper of a day! Now for some house cleaning before dins out. So sleepy though!

Edit: I napped instead. No regrets.

Probably have asked this before, but DT fam, do you keep greeting/invite/birthdays cards?

If so, how do you store them?

Or how long would you keep them?
