North Korea said Wednesday it will permanently block its border with South Korea and build front-line defense structures to cope with “confrontational hysteria” by South Korean and U.S. forces, while not announcing an expected constitutional revision to formally designate South Korea its principal enemy and codify new national borders

While the moves were likely a pressure tactic, it’s unclear how they will affect ties with South Korea since cross-border travel and exchanges have been halted for years.

North Korea’s military said it will “completely cut off roads and railways” linked to South Korea and “fortify the relevant areas of our side with strong defense structures,” according to the North’s official Korean Central News Agency.

This feels like boycotting a company you didn't do business with previously.

Yes, add more fortifications to the DMZ, I am sure that'll be a very productive expenditure of resources.

Eastern Germany also called the wall built to keep its citizens in an "antifascist bullwark"

They say the fences on their shor line are against beach landings. Absurd.

As nobody tried to sneak in from the West that is silly. Also people from the West could easily visit the East as long as they exchanged some money.

The GDR calling the Wall to imprison its own people some sort of protection has nothing to do with the problems of Nazis making careers again in Western Germany. These spanned police, military, politics, administrations, judges...

It is a big problem of its own, especially now that it shows how little was learned from German history and with Nazis like Hans Martin Schleyer being glorified.

But none of these justifies the Wall in Berlin and the other border between East and West Germany.

Who was not a member of the Nazi party at the end of WW2 and still alive and in any sort of position of power?

[–] Ferrous@lemmy.ml -3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The entirety of east german leadership.. to name one of many.

What did they do during WW2?

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Lmao. They didn’t like our ‘immediate end to the Kim regime’ comeback after their shit talking a couple weeks ago. They’re gonna have a problem with that though after they start sending their meat into Ukraine to chew on drones. hey kim you get all those general's bits back yet from last time.

“Confrontational hysteria” is certainly a phrase…

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

“Hysteria” seems to be chiefly used by bad actors.

A century ago it was what you diagnosed women who had unknown physical illnesses with, and blamed the symptoms on them.

Well with the empire inflicting a genocide on palestine, launching terrorist attacks against lebanon, bombing every state in the middle east, and threatening several nuclear holocausts...

This kim dude should be paranoid ffs.
