Dozens of US troops have been deployed to Cyprus amid sharply escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, and they are preparing for a range of contingencies including a possible evacuation operation from Lebanon for US citizens should a full-blown war erupt, four US officials told CNN.

I tried not to make rules for this community but y'all wylin'. I'll keep it quick and to the point:
-
Mildly biased headlines and articles are fine, but please do not share opinion pieces or strongly slanted articles here.
-
Reporting content that does not break those rules prohibited.
-
Baiting and drama farming is prohibited. If you're not sure whether or not you're in this category, ask yourself if what you're about to post or comment adds to the discussion of the topic at hand, or if you are trying to get a rise out of someone, make bad-faith accusations against one's character, etc. There's some leeway here because I have a sense of humor though, so don't let this rule scare you.
This is so stupid. Israel specifically said they didn't want our troops over there, and we immediately sent troops to their border and started fighting with Hezbollah. That inflamed this whole situation and is why we are where we are rn.
Not really sure what you mean about your comments about Israel and the US escalating tensions with Hezbollah.
That being said, the CNN article you did share says the US and the UK are preparing to evacuate their citizens in Lebanon -- like was done in 2006. I'm sure other nations that have citizens in Lebanon are coordinating similar efforts.
This was back when I was following the conflict more closely:

TL;DR We sent troops into the area, Israel basically said "please don't send troops over here", we were like "okay buddy" while also putting 2k troops on notice to be ready to mobilize, and then the US and Hezbollah began firing at each other. Since then, Hezbollah has been more and more active as the Israel-Hamas War rages on.
