  • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Germany) (1)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Haverford - Soap
  • Post Shave: Summer Break Soaps - Woodshop - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
  • Fragrance: Cross/Cut - Warm Woods - EdT

The Bolzano blade experiment continues. Yesterday I used an Egypt blade, and today a Germany blade. Tomorrow I'll do a side by side comparison, but I wanted to get a shave on each of them before comparing since I know at least the German version changes after the first shave.

I want to say the Germany blade felt slightly less sharp, but just as smooth as the Egypt version yesterday. Either they have slightly different bezels, or it's just a difference in coatings.

Both yesterday and today were really excellent shaves, and I'm looking forward to using them both tomorrow. I just have to pick a razor to use them in. Either keep them in the Era, or use a Tech? I think a Tech is better suited for switching blades multiple times mid-shave.

You need a pair of matched DE razors for these comparison series!

Yes, I'm considering using my Slim Adjustable and Black Beauty, but I probably won't because maybe they're slightly different.

Another option is the Baili BR171. I have 2 of those now after snagging one for $1.50 on Ali Express.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Back home from my travels. A very enjoyable, quick shave today. I was quite surprised at how close this shave was. The progress on this Zenith brush is just phenomenal. I know that it will improve, but it does not need to.

Commissioned Royal SOTD Sat 14 Sep 2024

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (45)
  • Razor: Böker King Cutter (5/8", hollow ground, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co – Haverford
  • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming – Massacre of the Innocents
  • Fragrance: Tom Ford –Tobacco Vanille

I bought this pretty little Royal Cutter on a local auction side on u/VisceralWatch's behalf. He had been looking for a 1) Böker 2) round point and this practically new razor fit the bill and came with the right price tag. The edge on this is factory, and the previous (and only) owner has used it fewer than 5 times.

I love the build quality of Böker razors. The few I have seen have the best jimping around, the stamps are perfectly even, and even these more affordable base models are simply stunning to look at and feel really well made.

The edge is a bit rough for my taste. Nothing bad. I just have the feeling this blade could tug less ATG. Still, a nice test shave, and I think Mr Watch will enjoy this razor.
