I like the UI because it doesn't remind me of reddit and details aren't as small as they are on most lemmy instances. I like the ability to turn off federation at will if I just want to check out kbin content, or manage what federated content I do see. I like the microblogs and the integration with mastodon. I like how there's no hard limit in the microblog, so I can use it as a twitlonger for my mastodon posts. I like that the creator seems to be an alright dude and doesn't hold any problematic views compared to the lemmy devs. I like being the kbin user in a sea of lemmings, makes me feel special.

For me it was the UI (vs Lemmy).
- The UI is really nice, and it's the reason I picked Kbin over Lemmy.
- I can browse and interact with Mastodon from here. Right now, there's still a lot to be desired, but I still prefer the Kbin microblog tab over going to Mastodon and browsing there.
- Kbin isn't flooded with memes. I never use the All page with federation on because there are just so many memes and shitposts from Lemmy.
-
UI is better
-
I like functions like microblogs, being able to see who upvoted/downvoted, etc
-
community here seems more chill
-
Ernest is a good guy
-
I just like the name and aesthetic way more than the lemmys/beehaw etc.
Less bots and more user engagement than on Lemmy
I love that it's accessible from lemmy though
idk, the last 2-3 days I've seen too many ~~cooks~~ bots
Why did you have to do that? I'm going to have that song in my head all day now!
Mission accomplished
It takes a lot to make a stew...
Beep bop beep boop - from Lemmy
Do you mean other instances of kbin, or other fediverse sites?
It feels more mature and quiet. Less memes, more informative articles and less "spam" all over
When searching for communities, you can follow them from the results list without having to visit the community first.
I like that I can access it from lemmy.
I just use it because in the begining a quick use of both ended with me liking it better. Im not really sure what in particular but it hits the spot.
Maybe it was, for a slew of things other people have already commented thus far, on the login part, as well as the extra connectivity with me being able to view and follow Mastodon profiles, from this platform's comforts; the latter part makes it look like I'm living in this breathin' and thrivin' town cooperative, despite their geographies, a bit more than the average teenage internet user.
Because of your heartfullness, bros
Things I like about kbin:
- ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝ Looks nice
- (∩_∩)/ Works in my school’s internet (unlike reddit)
- (⌐■_■) ernest is cool
- ( ˙˘˙ ) Isn’t blocked by The Great Firewall of China [dramatic music plays]
- ✧(• ◡ •) I can talk to random internet strangers
- (꒪⌓꒪) I am desperately running out of text emojis
I guess one pro to decentralized federated instances is the fact that noone can block them completely. And if one gets blocked, another one can spin up and deliver the same content.
The UX, the other is...

...inline images, assuming that still works. I store my images on IMGBB which gives copy and paste code for the images, and this works here but not on Lemmy.
