"They're taking their jobs, black and a Mexican jobs..." I can't remember the exact quote, but that one really caught me off guard.

On top of that, we have millions of people pouring into our country from prisons and jails, from mental institutions and insane asylums and they're coming and they're taking jobs that are occupied right now by African Americans and Hispanics and also unions.

  • Donald J Trump

So essentially he believes that people of color only work jobs so bad, that employers have started to replace these people with what I would assume are people that are clearly "insane" and/or with mental health issues. Just wild!

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Thank you for finding the quote! I agree.

The meme hits so hard cause it's spot on it was just some old guy rambling nonsensically. Like I feel like he should take a cue from Biden and just drop out

[–] xtr0n@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He should but Vance is somehow even more of a dumpster fire. I don’t know how that is even possible.

[–] SirSoy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I know next to nothing about Vance but my God he as a punchable face. Idk what it is but his face just screams punch me

[–] Xanthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Oh god, you're lucky not to know about Hillbilly Elegy

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Oh he’s a weirdo who pretends to be a hillbilly for votes

Now now, he was coherent for like the first sentence. Then he started in on immigration when no one asked about it and things went downhill from there

People are shocked that the felon who wanted to nuke a tornado might be crazy

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

What's really insane is his base is doubling down and believing him

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I pointed out on Mastodon that Trump is married to an immigrant and seems to have inside knowledge about immigrants eating pets...

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 month ago

After Trump's tirade about crime rates, Harris was quick to point out his personal contribution to them.

I don't even know why they're using this avenue after telling voters it's ok to just kill your dog and they got RFK jr strapping whale heads to the top of his minivan and dumping rotten bear carcasses in Central Park after deciding not to eat it and riving around with it for a while

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Also, let's say these pet eating stories are true. Wouldn't that mean one of two options, one they are eating pets out of starvation/need, or it's some kind of cultural miscommunication. Either way it's a failure on our end to provide or educate.

[–] octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Look, I agree with you, but you are giving the maga crowd far too much credit. The maga crowd.

Imagine for a second a single person who is going to vote Trump in November forming this thought:

one they are eating pets out of starvation/need, or it’s some kind of cultural miscommunication. Either way it’s a failure on our end to provide or educate.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

True. Me being a rational person that actually cares about my fellow human beings is giving literally dumb Nazies too much credit.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You say "they". I think this was pure Trump off the rails, and his handlers were probably screaming in the back.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He didn't just make it up, he's repeating what he sees in rightwing media.

They made it up, and they are the ones I was refusing too.

trump is like an elderly parrot that just screeches whatever he's heard recently

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 11 points 1 month ago

I think it was from a Facebook post of some conspiracy theorist, and may have been based on a lady in Canton Ohio that was having an episode from drug addiction and for some reason ate her cat. But conspiracy theriost turned it into immigrants because that's what you do when also having a break from reality.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Apparently JD Vance has been preaching about it for the last week, or something. That's where he got it from.

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Vance, Hannity, Gym Jordan, Ted Cruz, Elon Musk, Marge Green, and probably many more Republicans have amplifying this message for a week or two already. I think that's people to qualify as "they".

I don't want to search online right now, but I will if someone is interested in sources for each of those names with this lie.

[–] blarth@thelemmy.club 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The worst thing is that the family member I have to deal with knows this shit sounds crazy, so they’ll go to great lengths to make it true but sound less crazy.

Their assertion will go something like: “well I know it SOUNDS crazy and I thought it was too, but then I looked it up and someone DID have their cat eaten by homeless people there (wherever “there” is) and they found out the people were from Haiti!”

So even if this single anecdote were true, does it turn into migrants all eat house pets?

I also wonder about this apartment building in Aurora. Was it abandoned or in some slum? I saw the video, but it seems absolutely insane and obviously isn’t a trend.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Immigrants are eating pets just like registered Republicans are attempting to assassinate political candidates!

[–] mack7400@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

"Cat trucks on every corner!"
