The government has been warning them for 70 years...

They had pumps to remove groundwater, unfortunately they worked so well people figured they weren't necessary and they stopped being maintained.

The heavy rains this year were too much after losing so many pumps, so what was 1cm a day drift began to happen feet at a time.

Everyone that lives there bought their house when we knew this was an issue, but they're rich and figured they could do what they want.

Fuck any bailouts they get, it could help so many people that actually need it instead.
