Since the active users on Lemmy is kind of low right now, I'm just posting this one game thread for all of today's matchups. I will mostly be commenting on the only P4 v P4 matchup: North Carolina @ Minnesota, but feel free to comment on any games going on (I will be flipping through them anyway).

Other P4 teams on deck today include:

  • Colorado hosting North Dakota State (ESPN)
  • Arkansas hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff (ESPNU)
  • ^16^Missouri hosting Murray State (SECN)
  • NC State hosting Western Carolina (ACCN)
  • Rutgers hosting Howard (BTN)
  • Illinois hosting Eastern Illinois (BTN)
  • UCF hosting New Hampshire (ESPN+)
  • Wake Forest hosting North Carolina A&T (ESPN+)
  • ^23^Kansas hosting Lindenwood (ESPN+)
  • ^18^Utah hosting Southern Utah (ESPN+)

WHAT?! CU went for it on 4th on their own 35? Lol

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

And even though the deep passing game seems to be the one place where they clearly outclass NDSU, they just plow it into the line over and over again.

I missed the game live, but my brother's short assessment after the game was "Colorado coaching with emotion, and not the good kind". Sums it up pretty well now that I've had the chance to watch some clips.

I like to think I'm fairly knowledgeable about FCS schools, but had to look up Lindenwood... they were D2 only 2 years ago. I would expect a beatdown by KU, but I think they'll keep the playbook pretty closed

They were in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference before going DI.

I'm working but occasionally checking in on the NCst game, I like the way this looks...

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I have no idea what's going on there. I wouldn't be that surprised if NDSU pulls off an FCS upset, but I wasn't expecting this from W. Carolina

Now that Brisket UT is in the SEC, I think Moonshine UT should just start calling themselves Western Carolina.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Brisket UT

This pleases the longhorn. Totally going to use this now

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately it displeases the vol. Like I know we're more of a pulled pork and ribs region but it feels unfair for you to get dibs on brisket.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Man, I thoroughly enjoyed the unusual level of success TCU had against Texas in the B12, but I have to admit central Texas brisket is unparalleled. Most of the classic joints are within 90 minutes of Austin.

Also, I don't know if we have any KU or Mizzou fans floating around, but they can fuck right off with their KC nonsense. It's just Texas barbecue but everything is slightly less good.

yeah NCst just has the bodies to win this

[–] orangeNgreen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Interested to see how Colorado fares this year.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 4 points 2 months ago

Their defense is not looking much improved so far...

[–] pnutzh4x0r@lemmy.ndlug.org 2 points 2 months ago

Looks like Bison > Buffalo... for now.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Am I missing something or did Shedeur just throw up a duck because he got hit and got very lucky? I mean, he’s legit, but let’s not overdo it, ESPN.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

NDSU intercepts off the calf-carrom! LOL

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 2 points 2 months ago

Of course Minnesota doinks the chip shot field goal. Feels like there's gonna be no points in this game

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Well, y'all, it's Lemmy, so I'm'a watch a Star Trek rerun and go to bed.

Captain Archer is an asshole, by the way, but I bailed on Enterprise's original run, so I'm going to see this thing through.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 1 points 2 months ago

The tip off the calf of the downed defender to result in the end zone INT for NDSU was beautiful. That is what CFB is all about

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Well, poop. Don't see the Bison mounting a two-score comeback. Good catch.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Totally wild INT that was nearly a pick-six in the Minnesota-UNC game! (I like both teams, so I just enjoy seeing any cool plays in this one)

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

Man, and now we’re already out a QB, I hate that for him and his family.

Refs have just decided that Travis Hunter can push off all night, I guess. Still, they're gonna get their points. NDSU needs to get back to bullying that soft CU defensive front.
