I just watched Merino’s first Arsenal interview. I thought it was pretty impressive.

Apparently Porto has confirmed Vieira's loan. I haven't seen anything from us yet though lol

No, just Ornstein, although he's not quite as tier 0 as he used to be, it seems.

[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I think the one I saw was a fake account LOL

Ramsdale to Soton for 18+7M pounds with a sell-on. Honestly a fantastic fucking deal under the circumstances.

Yes. Seems like the best outcome for all, at this point in time.

Eddie should be completed today, which gives us two days to bring in a forward.

I'm gonna land in New York and get a bunch of notifications that we signed Marcus Rashford or something aint I

Sterling here we go xD

Don't roast me, I really don't want him, lol

Worse...Darwin 😏

I need to add Sterling's name to our silly season list. But there's a part of me that doesn't want to contemplate us going for him.

Nope, I know we just bought Merino, but the profile Arsenal are looking for is even more ill suited with Sterling.

Either they've been working on stuff in the background, which is probably more likely, or they have a lot of work to do in 2 days.

It's also within the realm of possibility they are still talking to agents/players, but unless something drastic happens, have finialised business. This seems less likely with Nketiah and Vieira out the door and Jesus with another injury 1 day into the season.

I have a feeling that whatever we're doing, it's pretty much done already. We're just refusing to budge before we get the Eddie confirmation. It's also worth remembering that we're still trying to move Nelson on too.

[–] nuggsy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I have that feeling too, but I just don't know how likely it is. But, I think you're right about Eddie. Maybe it's a case they have something lined up but are trying to offload him first to make sure we have the funds.

It doesn't seem like Nelson will be moved on this window though. I could be wrong, but it doesn't feel like there is a lot of news around him.

I suppose all will be revealed by Friday though. In the meantime, we can only wait and speculate.

I'm hoping we go for Ferguson from Brighton. He's young, talented, strong, proven PL quality, and has bags of potential. He would offer us a different option than either Havertz or Jesus.

why are more clubs not going in for Carlton Morris? he was pretty impressive last season for the ultimately-relegated Luton Town.

i'd say he made more of an impact than Toney, Solanke, or Darwin. ARS, TOT, or MUN could have strengthened with him, imo.

The Ramsdale situation is the biggest L taken by Edu and Co.

Extended his contract, gave him false hope, didn't let him play, let his value in the market dip, made sure he could not become more important for England. No one gained anything from the whole process.

Maybe given time he could have learned the whole cross-claiming thing Raya specialises in.
