Thats not that surprising, all games go through this stage of development where you're using basic assets just so you have something to look at while you're iterating gameplay

Early images from sea of thieves are just hilarious.
Waiting patiently on my invite.
EDIT: No longer waiting.
Did you get someone to invite you? If not I can
Does it play okay on Mac/Deck?
I got it working on my Linux desktop with minimal issues (was crashing when I loaded into a map, was an easy system configuration fix after troubleshooting... I also use a more DIY distro so there are occasional quirks). I'm sure it will run fine on steam deck, I highly doubt Valve would have put the game out for beta before testing it on their own hardware
Valve has manually selected the game to be run with proton experimental under linux, and it works on my linux desktop. So it will probably at least run on Deck, but I don't imagine it's a very controller-friendly game. I have no idea about Mac.
Ohh, what is not going to work with a controller do you think?
It's a shooter with no aim assist, and the UI isn't setup particularly well for controller (at least not yet)
Yeah controller would be really rough.
I’ve unfortunately only played on PC
Friend sent one, it just took a while to show up.
I'd be interested in an invite. Been discussing it with a few friends, but want aware of the playtest until I read this thread.
Anybody that's in has infinite invites.
Sure thing! I have to add you to my friends list for me to be able to invite you inside Deadlock. You can DM me your friend code if you don’t want to post it here.
If you don't mind, I have a potato PC to test it and make a write up on how it works on outdated setups. Write me and I'd PM my steam.
Sure thing! Message over your friend code or whatever and I’ll add you to my friends list and get you a deadlock invite. I’ll do it in the morning, have a good one!
If anybody's got an invite please reach out!
I know it's probably out of convenience more than anything (re-using existing CS assets), but it's interesting to me that it was First Person at this stage and not Third. I've been wondering if I'd enjoy it better as an FPS as opposed to TPS.
As someone who has adopted it as a replacement for Battleborn, me too.
But even in Battleborn, certain abilities would pull the camera out to a third person perspective, because in first person you just wouldn't be able to see what you were doing otherwise.
I think playing around cover is better in third person, too. Have you noticed that jungle creeps and the characters have a different animation when shooting "around a corner"?
It seems MOBA mechanics benefit a lot from the improved awareness of a third person camera.
That's fair, I can see that. Certain types of abilities are easier to aim and just work better in third person, too. Like Viscous' ultimate.
How does the invite system work? Do you have to register somewhere?
You just need to get invited by someone you are friends with.
It used to be you had to be friends for at least a week, but I think that isn't the case anymore.
Got it, thank you!
