Pure headcanon, which for me means that it doesn't mean realistic.

But, in my head, they're avatars. Everett represents the collective impulses of humanity at any given time and place. Mrs True is the archetype of "married woman" that shifts to match the impulses of Everett, by balancing and countering them. They're minor deities. Hence their immortality, and how they can only be hurt by each other.

Either that, or they're in a consensual BDSM relationship with extremely specific agreements in place where Mrs True is the dominant, and Everett is the brat sub.

I like the dance of two deities clashing with one another, neither more powerful than the other.

But who is yin, and who is yang?

Why does it always sounds like it’s a bad thing?

Because cirvular dependencies are a programming antipattern.

She's got dishes to wash and mouths to feed, it's the maid of all work's day off, JUSTBUTTONMEUPIGOTSHITTODO. Source: personal experience.

Looks like he's a Domestic Violence victim

Well maybe he likes the pain. As suggested by some on here.

He married her because she was just as outspoken as he was. That was a painful mistake.
