About time, I love hitting up friends through the steam friends list, but typing back from a steamdeck is more often then not, kind of a hassle. Now I know beforehand that i'm typing to someone who's on the deck :)

Tip if you care about it, Steam Deck has Bluetooth and can connect to Bluetooth devices like any computer. You should be able to get a small Bluetooth keyboard (without a dongle!) and use it for anything on the deck.
Thanks, you are right! In most of the situations my friends are using it, they are laid back somewhere or docked with a controller on the couch. I have my wireless keyboard with mousepad in the living room, but they don't 😊. It was never a big deal, but this extra info at a glance is useful for those times.
I played Balders Gate 1 like this.
I just use the Steam Chat mobile app
Can you do voice to text on the steamdeck?
This will be great to see which games your friend would want to play at the moment.
I thought it already did?
It previously showed a controller icon next to your name if you were either playing on Steam Deck or in Big Picture Mode - now there's a separate icon for the Steam Deck rather than both using the same controller icon
I'm pretty sure it already does for me
