I'm looking to start a community. there's currently a bug with lemm.ee and the way it interacts with Boost for lemmy, so I think I'll avoid it at least for now.

which instance do you guys find to be the most reliable?

I may be biased, but I think lemmy.ca is very stable.

I've only ever noticed like one downtime, and it wasn't for very long. It's a nicely run instance.

Ditto. Biased and happy.

I've had no complaints here in the year+ I've been here.

What's the issue with Boost though? Are you sure it's not instance independent?

I'm not sure about anything, but that was the consensus from the boost for lemmy community. whenever I personally make an image post, it doesn't show up like an image post in boost, you just got the title and a little black square to click on. apparently the posts look normal for other people, and if I paste it into my browser it looks fine

so I'm not sure who the bug is, but it seems to be a bug that affects the interaction between boost and lemm.ee

Does lemm.ee support image uploads? I know for a while the file size limit was relatively low, and then disabled entirely for a bit.

Either way, purely to combat community consolidation, I'd be happy to see a community on any reasonable instance but Lemmy.world

it actually appears to be working now. but yes, it does, like I said, everybody else could see it and I could access it from a browser

sh.itjust.works lives up to the name

Although I do remember a period early on where it wasn’t working, and that was pretty hilarious.

Lemmy.zip has been good to me. After jumping around instances it's my home I chose.

anything in particular it does better than others?

  • Transparent admin.
  • Reliable.
  • General purpose instance.
  • Lots of extra front ends. (I'm on alexandrite - a.lemmy.zip) right now.
m.lemmy.zip - Our Mobile/Tablet site
old.lemmy.zip - A familiar desktop experience!
a.lemmy.zip - A desktop-first UI
t.lemmy.zip - An alternative Mobile/Tablet UI with lots of features!
