Yes, forcing Tyrion to watch his first wife get publicly gang-raped before disappearing her is absolutely what a loving father would do. Sorry, guy, but that whole mess is a pretty big torpedo.
Unpopular Opinion
Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!
How voting works:
Vote the opposite of the norm.
If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.
Guidelines:
Tag your post, if possible (not required)
- If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
- If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].
Rules:
1. NO POLITICS
Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.
2. Be civil.
Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...
Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.
5. No trolling.
This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.
Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
One of the first undeniably UOs I've heard in a while. There's some good points here and it's well thought out. Unfortunately, I don't think I can get past the thought that Tywin is merely moving chess pieces which you're taking for love. Most, if not all, of Tywin's actions are mutually beneficial to him so very hard to say.
Most, if not all, of Tywin's actions are mutually beneficial to him so very hard to say.
That's the core of it. If you love someone you tend to be OK making decisions that also affect you negatively. Tywin would have never done that for Tyrion. Everything he did was benefiting himself as well, e.g. the marriage with Sansa.
Yeah. Tywin just played with the cards he was dealt. His sole aim was to get his house better position. He did things to 1) benefit himself and 2) benefit Lannisters. Ideally in that order. Tyrion was a cripple (not how I personally think of him, but it is what he was seen as) but he was still his son and his blood counted for something. Tywin didn't give the North to Tyrion - he gave it to the Lannisters.
Agree and defending Tyrion in public forums was also just protecting house Lannister.
Tywin hates Tyrion for two chief reasons. First for his birth causing his wife's death, and second for being half Targeryen.
Interesting theory
I disagree only because the mad king theory makes too much sense to me, which would also explain why Tywin never declares hating Tyrion to others, because it would be an admission that the king he had been hand to had taken his wife from him (consent or no kinda immaterial if he wasn't gonna raise riot over it)
Sadly you never said what exactly you are talking about. Tv show, movie, book?
Game of thrones. But I also hate when people aren’t clear.
