I'm also pretty excited about Ibis, but I think the main dev said they wouldn't be able to devote any more time to it right? If I had the skills I'd take on the project myself, it's really neat!
Ibis
Ibis is a federated online encyclopedia similar to Wikipedia. Users can read, create and edit articles seamlessly across instances. It uses the Activitypub protocol to connect users across different websites, similar to Mastodon or Lemmy.

Is there maybe a development group chat on Ibis? I would like to try to contribute
There's a Matrix chat for it, but it's just as quiet as here unfortunately: #ibis:matrix.org
Oooh maybe that community that's learning Rust and ActivityPub at the same time should take it on as a project? !learningrustandlemmy@lemmy.ml
That's actually a pretty nice idea! I'm part of this group, so I'll try suggesting it.
Just saw this post now. Its exactly this, I already worked on Ibis for around three months to finish the proof of concept, but it will take roughly a year of fulltime work to get it ready for production, and I cant afford to spend so much time working on this for free. I did apply for funding from NLnet, so if we're lucky and it gets approved I will be able to work on it more. Otherwise Ibis will remain in the current state, or I have to look for funding elsewhere (suggestions welcome).
or I have to look for funding elsewhere
Donations, perhaps? I'm not sure if they should be mixed with or kept separate from the funds for Lemmy.
There are donation options in the announcement post. However I think people are very unlikely to donate to a project in proof of concept stage which doesn't have any real users yet.
I think the main dev said they wouldn’t be able to devote any more time to it
Do you remember when/where they said that?
